perfected camp program

We’ve ran camps all around the country since 2015! We have received feedback from players and parents and improved each year. We believe that our camp is the perfect mix of encouragement & confidence building with skill development and instruction.

The problem:

"72% of ballplayers quit baseball before 13 because it is no longer fun."
- george washington u. research team

#1 Playing/playing well

#1 most fun thing for ballplayers 6-12 is getting to get out and play and play well. This is why we give each camper equal opportunity to succeed and play well. We get a lot more out of them by treating each camper like a stud ballplayer and perservering with encouragement.

#2 respect from coach

#2 most fun thing for ballplayers 6-12 is when coach treats them with respect. Our coaches are meticulously trained to respect and get the most out of campers' abilities. Would you work for a boss that sat you half the days because you weren't good enough to contribute? Respect is huge!

#3 playing as a team

#3 ballplayers love the game when they are contributing in a team environment. We teach players to be a good teammate because it helps them make more friends, they are more coachable, and they play better. We teach our best players to elevate our beginner players rather than push their way to the front of the line.

#4 Unplug and plug in

#4 ballplayers have fun when they are out and active. The average american ballplayer spends 7 hours on a screen each day. Activities like our camp are proven to widen the attention span and literally "rewire" our brains in a positive way that helps them to overcome rather than feel overwhelmed.

7:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Early Care [Add On]

9:00 AM: Check-In

9:10 AM: Pre-camp talk
Emphasizes being a good teammate, time to tell campers about the prize for best teammate. They all
introduce themselves and say their favorite food. (It’s usually Pizza).

9:20 AM: Dynamic Warm Up
Light jog twice, backwards jog twice, 5 long breaths, lunges, side lunges, spiderman, high knees, butt
kicks, 5 long breaths, shuffles, karaoke, a-skip, skip for height, 5 long breaths, walking quad stretch, leg
swings, broad jumps, 5 long breaths, 50% sprint, 75% sprint, 100% sprint.

9:35 AM: Throwing Program
3-minutes at 20-30 feet, 3 minutes at 60 feet, 3 minutes at 90
feet, small kids stay at 90 for 3 more minutes, big kids 3 minutes at 120. Work their way in. (Beginners stay closer, Experts work further).

9:47 AM: Cut & Relay Races
2 or 3 teams lined up in one big line spaced out and see who can get the ball all the way down and
back first. If a throw is missed they have to go back and do that same throw again before proceeding.
WE MAKE IT HYPE & FUN.

9:55 AM: Water Break

10:05 AM: Split Into Groups
(3 groups: 6-7,8-9,10-12) We work to make them even in size by bumping kids into different groups, once
they are in groups we have them name their “team” and make it fun for them! This will be their group for
the remainder of camp and their team will compete with the other teams. (Every once in a while we’ll have them compete with the “Chinese” or “Russian” team of the same age group).

10:15 AM: Drill Circuit 1
(We send each group to one circuit and have them rotate up after 15 minutes)

Station 1: OF Drills – Over the shoulder “quarterbacks” (see how many they can get in a minute)!
Station 2: Infield Drills – Errors Game, line them up and roll them ground balls if someone makes an
error they’re out. Once they’ve all gone move up to “level 2.” Keep moving up levels until they’re all out.
The kids love the idea of “beating level 10” and so forth! That’s how we make it fun!
Station 3: Hitting Drills – “Big Man” Hitting Competition or General Hitting Station
“Big Man” Hitting Game is for cage only. 5 balls, if you hit the back net you’re still in, if not you’re out,
move the second round to 3 balls, then 2, then 1, until one man stands and he is the “big man.”

In the case of inclement weather, Friday would be a makeup day, and in rare cases of multiple rain out days Saturday and Sunday afternoon would be used as well. American Baseball Camps hires and trains high school and/or college coaches from your local area. That’s the biggest advantage of the program. While most local youth and travel team coaches have some knowledge of baseball, this is a chance for young players to get actionable instruction and tips from our approved and trained American Baseball Camps Coaches. Absolutely! American Baseball Camps are all about positive energy and being a good teammate. When ballplayers are good teammates they encourage each other and pick each other up, which makes new ballplayers much more comfortable. On top of that, our hand-picked coaching staff is trained to train each kid at their ability level – not their age level – leaving many kids feeling encouraged and confidence in their own improvement throughout the camp.

Your expert ballplayer needs reps and competition to take his game to the next level, we have both in spades at these camps! American Baseball Camps is a place where a good ballplayer can get 5-6 hours of focused reps in a dream baseball environment. These camps are an oasis baseball paradise for all ballplayers 6-12!

Cancellations outside of a month of camp will receive a refund minus a $25 cancellation fee. Cancellations inside a month of the camp will receive a credit toward our next winter/summer camp near you – we do this because our camps are popular and fill up quickly, so if your spot is reserved we more than likely turned another kid away. If a pre-camp injury prevents a player from attending, we will refund your money upon receipt of a doctor’s explanation.

American Baseball Camps maintains an 8 to 1 player-to-coach ratio at our camps. Last second signups may slightly skew the ratio, but this will not compromise the integrity of the camp or the quality of instruction. We go out of our way to get you the best possible instruction in your area.

At sign up we prompt parents to list their child’s allergies so that we can tailor a plan for each camp. Kids are not allowed to share foods and instructors aid to the allergies listed at sign up.

We follow the recommendations of the CDC very closely. Our policies are subject to change in a case by case basis. We ask each camper to stay home if they feel sick or have any covid-19 symptoms. We take temperatures of campers each day and ask each camper to wear a mask. If you are at any point uncomfortable with our covid-19 policy please do not register.
