3 Ball Drill

Equipment: 3 Baseballs

Set Up: Put 3 balls about 2 feet apart from each other on the ground in a straight line. Have the catcher set up in a crouch behind the first ball. When you say go, the catcher will drop to mimic blocking ball number one, right away they will hop up into a crouch behind the second ball and repeat this process through the final baseball. We are looking for quick explosive hops and smooth transitions into the blocking position, with the chest angled down to simulate smothering the baseball.
