Bat-Point Drill
Equipment: Bat or stick (optional)
Set Up: With a coach or parent standing in front of the catcher, have the athlete crouch in their normal stance. Next slowly walk backwards pointing to either the middle, left or right with the bat. The catcher will block towards the spot you point at. Continuing to move backwards with each rep will force the catcher to block the spot with forward momentum, which simulates how we would want the catcher to move in a game with a real ball in the dirt.
Reps: 3 sets of 12 total touches
